Resources

We provide materials and support to other groups working in our issue areas.

TablingWe are happy to offer other groups access to our materials and training if they are active in advocating for campaign finance reform, voter-owned elections, stronger ethics for government officials, pro-democracy reform, electoral reform, voter rights and get out the vote activities or other civic engagement tasks such as increasing citizen participation in government.

Among our support services are expert speakers on a variety of topics, including organizing and leadership training and numerous fact sheets and hand-outs on various issues. You may also be interested in our research reports, some useful links to other internet sites we have found helpful and our library of newsletters and annual reports.

If you are interested in one of our activities detailed in another section of our website but do not see any related resources listed here, please contact Associate Director Jenn Frye via email at jennfrye@democracy-nc.org to see if we have resources that might help (919-286-6000, Ext. 15).

Furthering Civil Rights

MLKMartin Luther King, Jr. recognized that the right to vote was a critical step in obtaining true equality. We are moving closer to that goal but we are not there yet.

If you belong to a group interested in supporting Dr. King’s vision for "the power of the ballot," you may be interested in our voting brochure, which uses quotes from Dr. King to underscore the importance of voting, protecting voters’ rights and urging others to vote.

Voter-Owned Elections

VOE Many people understand that when a handful of donors have the power to make or break political campaigns, democracy suffers. But few people understand that something can be done – and is being done – to change this flawed system. Voter-owned elections have been used with success all across America, and even the world, and are helping to put government policies and election outcomes in the hands of the people. Download our flyer explaining what voter-owned elections are in simple terms if you would like to educate yourself or others.
