Democracy Summer 2006

Applicants may send in a cover letter and resumé beginning February 1st, 2006.

We're looking for young people with:

•  a commitment to social and economic justice
  
•  an ability to communicate with diverse groups of people
  
•  an interest in and general understanding of politics
  
•  a comfort level in speaking in front of audiences, on the phone, and in public
  
•  attendence at a school in North Carolina or residence in North Carolina a plus
  

About the Program

    • Dates of Democracy Summer: May 23 - July 28

    • A Democracy Summer position is a full-time job. Students who take summer courses are not eligible; however, many past participants have received course credit for participation in the program.

    • Students are typically based out of offices in Charlotte, Greenville, and Carrboro and work across a region near where they are based.

    • Democracy Summer is open to young people aged 17-24 (not open to graduate-level students).

    • Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
