A very good bill -- the Fair Elections Now Act (S-1285) -- has been introduced by Senators Richard Durbin (D-IL) and Arlen Specter (R-PA). It would provide full public financing for congressional elections.

We need to get US House members from North Carolina to add their names to a House version of this bill. Congressman John Larson (D-CT) has sent a "Dear Colleague" letter to his fellow Representatives asking them to be original co-sponsors of the House version of the Fair Elections Now Act.

This bill creates a public financing option for Congressional electionssimilar to the programs in North Carolina, Maine, Arizona and other states.
